The Eternal Struggle:
"And in the end,
the love you take,
is equal to the love
you make.
-- Lennon/McCartney, "The End" from Abbey Road
When I was a kid, I smirked at this, thinking it referred merely to sex. As I get older, the deeper meaning becomes more apparent. I want desperately -- and fail regularly -- to live my life by this sentiment. But I often do get angry and frustrated with people. I sometimes feel that, although I care very much for and about individual persons, "people" in general can be dumb, dangerous, and ultimately disappointing. How to reconcile those two extremes within my own nature? Ah, that's The Challenge, isn't it?
